I know we wrote about Elliott Smith a month ago, and write about him all the time, but it’s his dang birthday today and we named the blog after him, so have some more. Although all of his songs are awesome and most of them I would describe as my favorites, a lot of them are rather depressing and not well suited to a happy birthday post. This song, on the other hand, has a chorus telling us that all he wants is happiness for you and me. RIP Elliott.

    I absolutely adore this song.

I recently picked up Figure 8 on vinyl, and it certainly adds a warmth to this song. Though it is a bit of a shame that Figure 8 just doesn’t sound like it’s been mastered properly: CD or vinyl. It’s most noticeable on Stupidity Tries, where all the instruments seem to blend into each other at the end. It’s still a fantastic album, though!

    Happy birthday, Elliott!

  • Apparently I’m a day late anyway, but OH WELL, it’s the thought that counts. You fancy kids with your fancy records. 🙁 I will get all that fanciness sometime.
