Sometimes, I stumble over music I’ve never heard before and kind of want to run around telling people about them. And then, I’m disappointed when I find out that the artist or group were only a thing for a year or so before disbanding. Such is the case with Basement Birds, a supergroup comprised of members from many fine Australian rock bands. Having said that, what they’ve created here is a gentle pop tune, full of a very pleasing vocal harmonies. It’s all very lovely (or soppy, depending on you ask), but I submit that it is a tune to wile away a warm summer’s afternoon with a sweetheart. Never mind that it’s winter here now!

One of the problems with my appalling laziness is that the world spins on, days become nights, and new music continues to flood my inbox. Life as a blogger is tough, isn’t it? Let’s wipe away the tears that I know you’re currently shedding over my plight and engage the help of our dear friend, Canada, to pull us out of the doldrums. Today, she brings us The Elwins, who in turn bring us a peppy, energetic piece of pop rock (and a fun video to boot!). It’s ever so slightly Strokes-ish (though perhaps not as serious) with a hint of psychedelica thrown in for added spice. It’s also gloriously, stupendously catchy!
