I’m not sure I quite like the chip tune genre, even though it technically appeals to the retro gamer in me. It seems like a lot of artists tend to ignore the fact that these sound effects were limited in their range, forcing composers to create incredibly memorable melodies. Instead, they just seem to use them to make noise! Having said that, Anamanaguchi seems to be on the ball with the genre, creating chip tunes with brilliantly catchy melodies that blend together nicely with real drums and guitars. Coincidently, this tune was created for the video game Bit.Trip Runner, a game that does the retro schtick with a modern splash of 3D graphics. Nice work on the parallel!
