One of the best examples of each member’s distinct contributions coming together to record a song is also one of their sweetest. A little soppy by today’s standards perhaps, but still a very cute tune. While it never feels disjointed, it’s one of the easiest songs to identify exactly who’s doing what: be it McCartney’s walking bass line, Lennon’s crisp vocals (and McCartney’s perfect harmonies), Harrison’s lead guitar and Ringo’s drumming, it’s all perfectly clear but expertly mixed together. Ironically, the Beatles themselves didn’t think much of the tune and never performed it live, despite its popularity in the US.
