While Rykarda Parasol is a rather strange name, at least it’s one that’s easy to Google. Somehow, I do not think you are going to find several bands with that particular name. One of the comments I got about Marissa Nadler was that while she is an incredibly capable singer, her songs were musically sparse. So, my remedy is Rykarda Parasol, with her songs that are much more layered. Their sound isn’t really the same at all, but they both play dark folk and that is good enough for me. Check out Hannah Leah for that layered folk goodness, though Lonesome Place reminds me more of a Johnny Cash country tune with a song about the KKK.
